Welcome Back
As we continue to prepare for the opening of the 2020/2021 school year, I want to thank our students, staff, parents, and community for all that you have done to support one another throughout the pandemic. Although COVID-19 has impacted all facets of life, the needs of our middle level students are still the same. This is at the forefront of our minds as we plan for new ways to support our kids while being mindful of the ever changing environment that this school year will bring for all.  I encourage you to call or email me at any time, and to work with our teachers, school counselors, support staff, and administrative team throughout the school year.  Regardless of environment, I know that our entire NRMS family will work hard to inspire great this year!

Thanks,
Jeff
Important Notes:

Supply Lists
Supply lists are available on our school website.  These are the supplies that will be used throughout the school year regardless of the learning phase.

School Counselors
Please click here if you are a new student and would like to take a tour of NRMS given by Mr. Foldesy, school counselor.  Additionally, there is also a summer message from Mr. Foldesy regarding how students can contact our school counselors if they need anything.

Band
Students who are enrolled in band for the upcoming school year will need an instrument.

5th Grade Parent Meeting
The 5th grade parent meeting scheduled for Thursday, August 13 is cancelled.  Since the majority of content for that presentation pertains to in person learning, it will be rescheduled for later in the year when we are able to transition the students back into the middle school.  Please know that I will be sharing a video that highlights various items that 5th grade students and families will need to know for the upcoming year.  We will then facilitate a Zoom 5th Grade Parent Q & A  on Wednesday, August 19 at 6:30 PM.  The video and Zoom link will be shared in a subsequent email.

WEB
WEB, which stands for "Where Everybody Belongs" is a middle school orientation and transition program that welcomes 5th grade students and helps to make them feel comfortable throughout the first year of middle school. Built on the belief that students can help students succeed, the program trains mentors from our 8th grade class to be WEB Leaders. As positive role models, WEB Leaders are mentors and student leaders who guide the 5th graders to discover what it takes to be successful during the transition to middle school.

At the end of last school year, we had 73 WEB Leaders confirmed for 2020/2021.  Since we had to revise our orientation plans for this year, each WEB Leader will be receiving a Google Form survey in his or her NRAPPS email account confirming participation.  Please encourage your son or daughter to complete this survey if he or she has not done so already.  Once we confirm our WEB Leaders, our fifth grade students and families will be provided with a WEB orientation video and individual phone call to welcome them to NRMS and the new school year.  When appropriate, we will facilitate our traditional WEB Leader training and WEB Orientation.
