Looking to Collaborate?
The Einstein-Montefiore Research Profiles is just a click away, from any computer. Continuously updated with your publications and NIH grants, Profiles has expanded to 1,908 qualified faculty members, and is a great way to find colleagues from across the hall to across the Bronx. Profiles also displays each faculty member’s research network, whether local, national, or international, further helping you hone in on the expertise you may need. To view research profiles, visit https://einstein.pure.elsevier.com or click on the profiles button on the lower right hand side of qualified faculty pages.

If your own profile is not up to date, please be patient as the data are periodically refreshed.

Stay Up-to-Date on Conflict of Interest Disclosure
It has been ten years since federal regulations were published; these are intended to ensure objectivity in research and limit Conflict of Interest (COI).[i] In response to those regulations, Albert Einstein College of Medicine established a Conflict of Interest management program, which serves to fulfill the institution’s obligations under those regulations. To accomplish this, Einstein has set up a web-based COI disclosure system, and the COI Office reviews all IRB proposals and federal grant submissions to assure that investigators can appropriately participate in research without risk of COI.

An important responsibility of investigators is to keep their COI disclosure file up to date. The standard is that the COI disclosure on file must be within six months of the date on which a research project or IRB protocol is reviewed. This allows the institution to remain compliant with the federal regulations. Any material submitted to the IRB (new protocol, amendment, or progress note) goes first to the COI Office; these cannot be processed if the most recent COI disclosure of an investigator or key person is has a date longer than six months. When that is found, the COI Office notifies the PI, with a request that the COI disclosures be updated, and with information as to how the out of date investigator can access the web-based disclosure system.

To avoid unnecessary delay, investigators should check the status of their COI disclosure whenever an IRB submission is to be made. To remain compliant with regulations, they should report any new commercial interest within 30 days. Working together we can assure the rapid processing of all submissions and the mitigation of any potential COI.
