Village Awards $10K Grant to LGAMC
The Long Grove Arts & Music Council (LGAMC) was awarded a $10,000 grant by the Village Board at the April 9, 2019 Board meeting. The amount was based on a request submitted by the LGAMC, which will help to cover the costs of presenting four summer concerts and paying the performers.

Normally, the LGAMC presents eight concerts over the summer, but due to the ongoing road construction, this year its leaders have chosen to present four summer concerts instead. These concerts will include Corky Siegel with Will Tillson & Friends on July 14, Don Stiernburg Quartet on July 21, Vance Gilbert on August 4 and Sons of Never Wrong on August 11, 2019. The concerts are free and presented at Towner Green (open area across from the Village Tavern on Old McHenry Road). For more information, please visit the LGAMC website here.

Old Hicks Road and Route 53 Utility Relocation and Road Improvements
Utility relocation work continues within the State of Illinois Right of Way (ROW) at Old Hicks Road/Route 53 between Lake Cook Road and Old McHenry Road. Once this work is completed, planned roadway improvements by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) are expected to last through the end of the construction season, which is normally in November, but is weather-dependent.

Residents should continue to expect intermittent lane closures and resulting traffic delays due to this work; lane closures are not permitted during peak hours of 6:00-8:30 a.m. and 4:30-6:00 p.m. Motorists are encouraged to use Lake Cook Road and Arlington Heights Road to bypass these expected traffic backups. Despite the Village's best efforts to save as many trees as possible located in the ROW, IDOT was unable to modify their tree removal plans. The Village will continue to work with IDOT on plans to replant trees and bushes - not only to replace important screening for the residents along Route 53, but also to improve roadway aesthetics once work is completed. More information on this project can be found here. For questions, call IDOT Project Manager Jonathan Shumacher at
847-705-4260  or email Jonathan.Schumacher@illinois.gov

An informational meeting will be held at Village Hall on Monday, April 22, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. regarding ongoing construction and improvements in this area. Please click here to learn more
Participate in Beautification Weekend April 27-28, 2019
Long Grove residents are encouraged to take part in the yearly Beautification Weekend and Neighborhood Cleanup on Saturday, April 27 and Sunday, April 28, 2019, which occurs just after Earth Day, on April 22 (learn more about Earth Day here ).

During these two clean up days, any trash or other refuse picked up by residents around the community can be left at the roadside in garbage bags. The bags will then be collected by Waste Management during the week of April 29. For questions, please contact Village Hall at 847-634-9440
Stormwater Management Grant Covers 50% of Project Costs
The Village of Long Grove applied for a Lake County Stormwater Management Commission (SMC) Grant to help cover costs for drainage improvements in the road right-of-way on Chickamauga Lane. The work to be completed will address the ponding of stormwater and resulting runoff that has presented drainage issues for the road and pavement, in addition to work completed by utility companies, such as ComEd. The total estimated cost to correct existing drainage problems is estimated to be $61,828, and the grant will reimburse the Village up to $30,000. The funding for this project is included in the 2019-2020 Village Infrastructure Budget.
Ongoing Old McHenry Road Project
Long Grove residents have likely become accustomed to the ongoing Old McHenry Road project. As work continues, so do the improvements along Old McHenry Road and its aterial streets. Residents are encouraged to continue to support the downtown Long Grove merchants during the remainder of the project, which is expected to be completed this coming fall.

Traffic Impacts: Motorists should watch for workers and flaggers as daily lane closures will be utilized. Also, please watch for trucks coming in and out of the jobsite. The LCDOT website, which provides ongoing updates, can be found here.
