State to Release Identity of Businesses w/ COVID Cases
September 30, 2020
Dear WH&LA Members,

It has recently come to our attention that the state will be responding to open records requests with a list of businesses who have had two or more related COVID cases throughout specific timeframes, and whose cases have been investigated and closed for 28 days with no new cases reported. We believe that five lodging properties will be on that list, and I have personally reached out to affected members to make them aware of the situation. We expect this list to be released on Friday or possibly sooner.

While there are currently a lot of questions and unknown details around the release of this information, WH&LA will keep you up to date as we learn more. In the meantime we urge you to be sure that your property is following the Safe Stay Guidelines and that you are prepared to answer any inquiries around COVID-19 as they come up. To assist with this, we’re releasing a special COVID-19 section of a broader Crisis Communication Guide that WH&LA will be publishing in partnership with Revelation PR, Advertising & Social Media. We hope that this is helpful when responding to guest and media inquiries and social media posts.

As always, please feel free to reach out to me or the WH&LA if we can be of any assistance on these issues.

Kind regards,

Bill Elliott, CAE
