September 17, 2020

Good afternoon Parents/Guardians:

I am very pleased to report that Governor DeWine once again announced that Cuyahoga County has remained at Level 2 (orange) for an additional week.

As I reported previously, we are now moving forward with bringing our students back to the schools as part of the Blended Learning Phase. For those students who are remaining remote for the first semester, your child's teachers will communicate with them about the next steps.

For students who will be returning to school, the following is the process we will follow:

  • Monday, September 21 will be a remote learning day for the District, as will every Monday as long as we are in the Blended or Remote Learning Phase.
  • Tuesday, September 22, the following grades of students with the last names A- K will report to school:
  • Kindergarten, 1st, 5th, 6th, 9th, 10th grade
  • The remaining students will have a remote learning day.
  • Wednesday, September 23, the following grades of students with the last names L - Z will report to school:
  • Kindergarten, 1st, 5th, 6th, 9th, 10th grade
  • The remaining students will have a remote learning day.
  • Thursday, September 24, the following grades of students with the last names A- K will report to school:
  • 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 11th, 12th grade
  • The remaining students will have a remote learning day.
  • Friday, September 25, the following grades of students with the last names L - Z will report to school:
  • 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 11th, 12th grade
  • The remaining students will have a remote learning day.
  • Monday, September 28 will be a remote learning day of the entire District.
  • Tuesday, September 29 and Thursday, October 1: All students with the last names A - K report to school.
  • Wednesday, September 30 and Friday, October 2: All students with the last names L-Z report to school.

For those who will return to face-to-face learning, please remember that students with the last name A-K will attend on Tuesday and Thursday and those with the last names of L-Z will attend on Wednesday and Friday. The only exception to this is for those parents who returned a change form that was approved or if your child’s building of attendance contacted you specifically about switching days. Due to social distancing requirements and class sizes, only the previously approved changes will be honored. No other changes will be permitted at this time.

Transportation information and bus schedules are posted on our website via our E-LINK system. You can access the transportation website here and then scroll down to access the E-Link information.

As part of our District Reopening Plan, all students and staff are required to wear cloth masks at all times on the bus and in the buildings. There will be times throughout the day when teachers will provide a “mask break” in the classroom or if they are outside and properly socially distancing. Per the order from the Governor and Health Department, face shields may NOT be worn as a substitute for a cloth mask.

For future reference, in the event that Cuyahoga County moves from Level 2 (Orange) to Level 3 (Red) based on the Governor’s report Thursday afternoon, the District will not move immediately to the Remote Learning Phase. We will wait to see if the county remains in that phase for one additional week prior to moving back to remote learning for everyone. In the event that the county does remain in Level 3 (Red) for two weeks in a row, the District will move to the Remote Learning Phase beginning Tuesday of the following week and remain there until the data shows a sustained decline prior to returning to the Blended Learning Phase. Please refer to our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s) posted on our District website as needed.

The building principals will be following up with additional information specific to the buildings. If you have additional questions, please contact them directly. Additional Information on the District Reopening Plan can be found HERE.

We are very excited to welcome back our students to our classrooms and also know that our students who will remain at home will continue to be engaged with our staff members during this time period. As always, thank you for your support of our students, staff and programs. We are looking forward to welcoming our students into our buildings!
