Gallery on Park

Gallery on Park will be hosting a celebration for their represented artists.  Please join us for our First Friday Opening reception on December 6th from 6-8 pm. Meet the artists, enjoy complimentary refreshments, peruse what is new and enjoy the company of friends, neighbors and appreciators of The Arts.  All are welcome!

Let's get Festive! Come to see our holiday-themed windows Into the Winter Woods and designed in collaboration with Bethany Formica Bender of Sawdust Siren and co-founder of the Annual Swarthmore Handmade Holiday Sale. All purchases of $50 or more will receive a free gift made by Sawdust Siren.

Swarthmore Campus & Community Store

There are several wonderful events and promotions happening at the Swarthmore Campus & Community Store on First Friday: 

- Join us from 5:30-6:30 pm for a holiday benefit children's concert featuring Allison DeSalvo's World of Song. Allison and friends will lead a concert and playtime for children ages 2-7 and their parents. Suggested donation of $15 per adult and child, $5 for additional child. Proceeds raised will benefit Cityteam Ministries in Chester, PA. 
- Puzzled about what to give? All puzzles are 20% off! Help us complete a jigsaw puzzle in the Store. 
- And finally, be sure to admired our holiday window display entitled Joy to the World, and designed in collaboration with the Chester Children's Chorus. The Store will stay open late until 8 pm and serve cider and cookies. 

Swarthmore Public Library
121 Park Avenue, 7-8 pm
Holiday readings of poems and stories from different faith traditions or selections that simply brighten these darkest days of the year. Songs will be sung. Refreshments will be served. Please register for the event at swarthmorepubliclibrary.org

Holiday Window Stroll
Various locations (see below), 5-8 pm
Stroll around Swarthmore Town Center on First Friday, December 6 for the unveiling of holiday window displays! A partnership between shop merchants and local community organizations & pre-schools. 


Register for the Frosty 5K Walk & Run
The Frosty 5K Walk & Run is the kick-off event for Home for the Holidays. The course will commence at the Swarthmore Presbyterian Church (727 Harvard Avenue) and conclude at the Swarthmore Methodist Church (129 Park Avenue).  Race day registration and check-in will open on Saturday, December 7 at 7:45 am. The race will start at 8:30 am.

Early Bird = $20
After November 30 = $25
Children age 10 and under are free, but are required to register and run with parent/guardian.
Swarthmore College students free (student ID required).

Dressing up in any winter holiday gear/apparel is 100% encouraged! The first 100 registrants will receive a tote bag to commemorate their participation. 

Swarthmore Town Center and the Swarthmore Farmers Market will be open and located near the finish line so be sure to stick around and refuel after the race! And if you're a hardcore running enthusiast, don't worry...the race will be professionally timed by Bryn Mawr Running Company!


Home for the Holidays is Swarthmore's annual holiday tradition featuring horse-drawn carriage rides, a visit from Santa Claus, dreidel games, a West African dance circle with Jeannine Osayande & Dunya Performing Arts Company, carols led by the Swarthmore Ukulele Orchestra, and so much more! Join Indigo Healing Arts Collective for a Holiday Open House Celebration on December 7 from 12-5 pm. We have a plethora of practitioners available to guide you through a healing session of your choice. We'll also be offering a selection of organic teas, tonics, and artisanal quality full-spectrum CBD products from our apothecary. You are welcome to schedule your spot for Gua Sha, Energy Healing and/or Tarot Readings, otherwise all reservations are honored on a first come, first serve basis. Sweet Stuff at H.O.M.

During the Home for the Holidays celebration shop Harvey Oak Mercantile's "sweet" pop up shop of handmade chocolates and more from Philadelphia's iconic candy shop, Shane Confectionery. H.O.M. is a proud sponsor of this day of festive celebrations and will be open from 9 am - 8 pm on Saturday, December 7. 

Book Reading & Signing with Judy Schachner 
Local children's author Judy Schachner will read from and discuss creating her new book Stretchy McHandsome. Judy Schachner's picture books, including Stretchy McHandsome, will be available for purchase and signing after the event. Co-sponsored with the Swarthmore Public Library, it will take place on Saturday, December 7 starting at 2 pm in The Inn at Swarthmore, Sycamore Room. 

Also on December 7, all Advent Calendars and Advent Calendar Cards will be 20% off. Advent calendars provide a sweet way to track the days until Christmas, for excited little ones and grownups too! Advent calendar cards have envelopes and are ready to mail.
