To some, September is known as the Mom's New Year. Kids go back to school and there is opportunity for a more structured routine - but not this year! The VP salutes all moms and dads and their supportive villages that are working together as they navigate the waters of educating their children, COVID style.

Everyone Eats Grant Awarded in Vergennes
Work Together for the Food Insecure
What began with the Skinny Pancake restaurant chain, the "Shift Meals" program is now the model for a larger initiative called "Everyone Eats," which supports restaurants feeding Vermonters who have been negatively impacted by COVID-19. A $5 million partnership with businesses across Vermont is working to ensure no one goes hungry. A program, in the making since the spring, VERMONT EVERYONE EATS (VEE) is a made possible by a Coronavirus Relief Fund (CRF) grant from the federal CARES Act passed by Congress and signed into law on March 27th.

Beginning September 14th, Bar Antidote and 3 Squares Café are working together to provide free meals for residents of the 5-town area that are facing food insecurity. The grant, written by the B&G Club, will also help to employ cooks and delivery people from the hard-hit restaurant sector. The grant will pay $10/meal produced, allowing compensation to pay cooks and delivery people up to $16.50 an hour.
