Baptist Memorial Hospital - Tying the Community Together

Baptist Memorial Hospital Staff were recognized on Tuesday, November 17th with a ceremonial ribbon-tying and drive-thru event. Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, the hospital and staff have been a blessing for the community. Not only were they recognized with the event, but local businesses and students came together to drop off gifts and cards for staff to enjoy later. Second grade students from Obion County School system sent cards as well as elementary students from Union City Schools. The event was a success and a great way to show appreciation to healthcare workers during the pandemic.

If you see a healthcare worker today, be sure to tell them THANK YOU for their service to their community.

How to Spend A Very Merry Day in Obion County

Union City is a charming town with a quaint downtown area, a variety of good eats, and some seriously great shopping, but one of our most famous (and favorite!) features has to be the “Let it Glow” Lights Show. Families come from miles around to drive through the 30+ miles of over one million spectacular Christmas lights. It’s great for kids, it’s only $10, it’s socially distanced, and—most importantly—it boasts a waterfall made of stunning blue Christmas lights. Be sure to stop by the Obion County Chamber Office to kick off your happy, healthy trip with a free Obion County mask and more resources on fun opportunities.
Allens Paint & Supply Makes Donation to UCES PTO
The Union City Elementary School PTO was the recipient of a generous deed and donation from Allen’s Paint and Supply recently. Owners Bucky and Stephanie Allen, whose daughter, Olivia, is a kindergarten student at UCES, presented a $500 check to Principal David Byars to pass on to the school support organization.

The Allens raised the money by giving away barbecue sandwiches and chips and charging $1 for a drink to go with the meal. The response was overwhelming, with one group — from Wayne’s Auto Repair and Towing in Union City — writing a check for $200 to help support the cause. “We just wanted to give back to the community and our school system,” Bucky said. The Union City Elementary School PTO uses donations and fund-raising money to help provide for needs of students and staff at the school.
