Tip of the Month
Heads up! TJC surveyors are zeroing in on dietary and food services. We're seeing tracers that cover nutrition consults, diet orders, and qualifications of the Dietary Dept. as well as the cleanliness of the kitchen and food storage areas. 

So, be sure to include these areas in your survey prep. We do the same in our Mock Surveys.

Be prepared! TJC's new requirements for the National Patient Safety Goal on Suicide Risk Reduction (NPSG.15.01.01) officially went into effect July 1 st.
 
As anticipated, surveyors are closely evaluating compliance with the seven new requirements.  We analyzed our clients' survey findings since July 1st on this standard. There are already some clear themes emerging. So, here's some feedback on what we're seeing in the field ...
Welcome to our New Associate Lee Fraser, RN-BC, MA
We are very pleased to welcome a new member to our consulting team! Lee Fraser, RN-BC, MA has joined us directly from the Joint Commission surveyor cadre. 

She surveyed in both the Hospital and Behavioral Health accreditation programs and was part of the surveyor group that surveys psychiatric hospitals. 

In that capacity, she conducted triennial surveys, special survey events, for-cause surveys, and post survey compliance reviews. She served as team leader for surveys of psychiatric hospitals, BH organizations, and healthcare systems nationwide...
