I continue to remain in close, frequent contact with our County Health Officer Dr Luu. Sutter and Yuba Counties remain on the state monitoring list for increased cases of COVID-19. As a result of this, schools will begin the 2020-2021 school year in distance learning. There has been a waiver process that has been approved, but Dr. Luu quoted the CDPH guidelines when discussing the waiver process:
"CDPH recommends that schools within jurisdictions with 14-day case rates more than two times the threshold to be on the County Monitoring List (>200 cases/100,000 population) should not be considered for a waiver to re-open in-person instruction."
As of today, Sutter County falls within this threshold.
I would like to commend our Sutter County School District Superintendents for their creativity and due diligence in providing thorough and well thought out reopening plans for our students. Sutter County students will continue to receive a high quality education during this time of uncertainty.
