EDC RECEIVING $55K GRANT FOR PARTICIPATION IN GROWEST
|
|
|
EDC receiving $55K for tech-related entrepreneurs as a participant in
Growest
which stands for Grow Western Kentucky Entrepreneurs, Startups, and Technology.
|
|
The award is part of a larger $2.6 Million grant supporting six such hubs across the state announced by Governor Beshear.
Our regional effort is led by Sprocket, Inc., a Paducah non-profit center for entrepreneurship, community learning, and education, located in midtown Paducah in the Coke Plant. The funded partners include
Madisonville Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation
(EDC) and its Kentucky Innovation Station and its soon-to-open Movers and Makerspace. EDC will receive $52,500 to provide services to technology and tech-enabled entrepreneurs in the area, and to help cross-promote resources throughout West Kentucky. Tech –enabled means any type of industry that new technology can assist with.
Ray Hagerman, EDC President will have a lead position in the Innovation committee overseeing this effort. “We are excited to continue working with our West Kentucky partners to promote new business startups in our region. We are expecting great things in our community and in all of Kentucky,” said Hagerman.
Client services, the attraction of outside and developmental capital, as well as pre-seed fundraising will be additional areas of focus. The coalition provides entrepreneurial services in an area that stretches from Carlisle to Muhlenberg Counties, taking in the entirety of the Purchase, Pennyrile, and portions of the Green River Development Districts.
Anyone with an innovative startup idea or existing business with the potential to scale, should contact the Madisonville-Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation. Services include early-stage education and mentorship, help navigating local and state regulations, and connections to regional and statewide networks of other entrepreneurs.

Kentucky Movers and Makers

Kentucky Movers and Makers is
finally
about to open!
This project has been a long time coming, however we are certain it has been worth the wait. We can't wait to see makers in our community creating, learning, building, and most of all; expanding their knowledge while being innovative at the Maker Space.
Did you know that the grant for this project was written over 3 years ago? In fact, we have had equipment picked out for this project since 2016! To say we are excited to see Kentucky Movers and Makers in it's final stages would be an understatement.
This community Maker Space will work much like a gym membership. To have access to all tools and equipment there is a small monthly membership fee. Keep watching our website as we put the finishing touches on it including the Membership and Lists of all equipment that will be there.

2020 Wage & Benefit Study
|
Compensation surveys are particularly valuable resources in times such as these—when companies face stiff competitive pressure to find and land top talent, when technology and business innovation are leading to the creation of whole new job roles and when business growth in one industry sector is leading to development of new related market opportunities within the same geographic region. These scenarios coupled with the effects of COVID-19, make Madisonville-Hopkins County Economic Development’s 2020 Wage and Benefits Survey an opportunity to evaluate your company's wage & benefits.
|
|
|
Please participate! The input we gather through the survey can help a business more strategically set its compensation levels or identify and capitalize on trends in benefits such as paid time off, insurances and professional-development opportunities.
To participate in the online survey, watch for EDC’s email appeal to area industry or click below. In order to receive survey results, participants must identify their company affiliations, though the company names
will not
be included with the wage and benefits data in the report. Results will be organized by industry category.
