The Baptism the Lord
January 9, 2022
Greetings!

I was listening to a homily a few days ago on the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord. The homilist said: “This day is no longer called the Feast of the Three Kings, rather it is called the Epiphany of the Lord because the whole Christmas season is about God manifesting His love and plan for all of humanity.” He added, Epiphany does not only happen on a single day. It is every day. God reveals Himself to us every day in many ways.” Read More...

Baptism of the Lord

Pope Benedict once said, having reached adulthood, Jesus began His public ministry by going to the River Jordan to receive from John a baptism of penance and conversion. What might seem paradoxical in our eyes actually happened. Did Jesus need penance and conversion? Of course not. Read more...

For a Synodal Church:
Communion, Participation, & Mission

Beginning in late February, the Diocese will sponsor a series of listening sessions, allowing all to share our insights. The outcomes will be collated and sent to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops by June. The USCCB will then incorporate the reports of all the dioceses into a final report which will go to the Vatican.

This Synod poses the following fundamental question: A synodal Church, in announcing the Gospel, “journeys together.” How is this “journeying together” happening today in your local Church? What steps does the Spirit invite us to take to grow in our “journeying together”? Learn more about the synod here.
