Thank you to all of our Bears that participated in Start With Hello Week which wrapped up on Friday. This week we have another special event scheduled on Thursday: our Virtual Open House. While this is a different approach given the emergence of the Covid-19 coronavirus, it promises to be a great opportunity for our Bear families to connect with teachers online Thursday evening (please see details below). It is a chance to put names and faces together for a short period and may also help out those parents who have trouble getting away from work. If you have a student at CCHS, I do encourage you to join us.

With the start of classes on Monday morning, we are down to our final 10 days of the first quarter. I encourage our Bears to keep up their momentum and to finish out these first nine-weeks strong. Make it a successful week and thank you for looking over this latest edition!

Hello Bear Sports Family!

Winter Sports conditioning has begun for some of our sports. If you are planning on trying out for a winter sport (soccer, basketball, girls weights, competition cheer, or wrestling)  please work on getting your athletic physical taken care of now. The process is longer this year and we cannot guarantee immediate clearance.

Stay tuned for more information about our LIVE streaming through the NFHS network for all games that are at our stadium complex and gymnasium.

If you have questions or need to reach a coach, please feel free to email me: [email protected]

2. FAFSA form for 2021-22 opens Thursday, Oct. 1
U.S. low-income students have been dropping out of college (FAFSA = financial aid applications). Cypress Creek has an excellent College and Career Resource Center that is always ready to help any student with FAFSA or other college financial aid/planning questions. The FAFSA form for 2021-22 will open on October 1st - Cypress Creek College and Career Resource Center webpage.

3. Taking on too many student loans can hamper post college plans such as getting married or buying a house. Our college bound Bears should consider setting up an appointment with Ms. Talani Nelson, College and Career Specialist, to discuss all financial aid options. Please also visit the Cypress Creek CCRC webpage for the latest college and career opportunities.

4. Wisdom to Live By for the week of Sept. 28, 2020:

INSIDE OUT
Most people approach success from the outside in. But to achieve real success, you have to do it from the inside out. Focus on your character, and your whole life improves. Changes in character bring substance and power, while external improvements are merely cosmetic and quickly fade away.
Faced with a crisis,
the person of character falls
back up upon themself.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson, essayist, philosopher
