Dear Parents and Staff,

The District has been monitoring the quickly evolving situation regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus).  The District's primary goal is to ensure we can continue our daily regular school routine without interruption.   In order to minimize risk of disruption to our regular school day, the District is taking preventative action by postponing or canceling all non-essential after school events, including sporting competitions, that gather larger groups of visitors into our school buildings now through March 20th, effective immediately.  The individual schools will follow-up with an email with more specific information about the events that are cancelled or postponed. The following activities will carry-on as scheduled: after school clubs, practices, rehearsals, and On-Deck.

This decision was made after carefully considering the news that today the World Health Organization (WHO) announced that COVID-19 is now officially a global pandemic . The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) have asked communities to reconsider non-essential large group gatherings to minimize the potential spread of the virus.

We understand that this decision may be disappointing for families and students. We will continue to closely follow directives from the CDC and IDPH, and apply guidance from these organizations as we monitor the situation.  We appreciate your support and understanding in light of this decision. Please refer to the District's website for more information regarding our response to COVID-19.

Sincerely,

Dr. Trisha Kocanda
Superintendent
