SCOUT NEWS: FIRE NEAR CAMP
Dear Scouting Family:

We wanted to give you an update on Camp Tahquitz and the El Dorado Fire. As you can imagine, this is a chaotic and highly dynamic event and information is highly speculative. As of this morning, Friday September 18, some reports indicate the fire has burned into camp. We are not sure to what extent the fire has caused damage to the property or structures.

Whatever the outcome, camp will be rebuilt. The forest will be replanted, and nothing can take away the memories and the impact Camp Tahquitz has had on thousands of young people.

This damage, however, pales in comparison to the human cost. We are very saddened to report that a firefighter lost their life while on the front line of the fire. Our prayers are extended to their family and to all those on the front line. This is a tragic reminder of how dangerous this situation is.

Despite recent challenges, our staff and volunteers remain dedicated and resilient. Together we will get through this and together we will build a stronger program for the future.

Again, please keep all those affected by the fires in your prayers, especially those on the front lines.
