LAST WEEK'S inSIDER POLL
QUESTION: ARE YOU HEADING HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS?
GREAT AMERICAN SMOKEOUT
CLEAN AIR CLEAR MINDS
This week is the great American Smokeout! What’s that? The Great American Smokeout is an annual intervention event on the third Thursday of November by the American Cancer Society. Approximately 40 million American adults still smoke, and tobacco use remains the single largest preventable cause of disease and premature death in the country.

CREATIVE TWIST TO DISGUSTING
DISCARDED BUTTS BECOME ART
While you’re in the Centennial Student Union, walk over to the display case on the way to Student Activities to view results of the " Amplify Your Voice with Art” project. Displays include student art using cigarette butts, and other tobacco-related waste collected last spring around campus. The Reporter , your campus newspaper, offered a recent story on Cecelia Schaefer , who led the art project to raise awareness to tobacco addiction on campus. Her efforts earned her an American Cancer Society award. Schaefer is also part of the Mavs for Clean Air campaign seeking to help people struggling with smoking and vaping. Efforts also include the #newtobaccopolicy Instagram site with a petition seeking an enforceable campus tobacco policy.
