Message from the Head of School
Dear Goshen families,
It was very busy here at school last week! We started with a visit from our accrediting organization, the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools. Our visitors toured classrooms, met with teachers and staff, and ended with another thumbs up for our school and community!
Later in the week, we had a birthday party for Dr.
Seuss! We wore crazy hats, ate silly snacks, read "The Foot Book" and named all the Dr. Seuss titles we could remember. (I counted 15 named by our Preschoolers. Pretty impressive!)

After all these years, Dr. Seuss books continue to inspire children to read, as they learn to play with sounds, make rhymes and memorize the lines in these classic stories. A special shout-out to Tr. Patty and her daughter, Kimberly for assembling the special snacks and for decorating the Grange for our party.
We ended the week with Parents Night Out in Extended Care. The children enjoyed pizza, played games and were plenty ready for bed by the time their grown-ups retrieved them! Thanks to Teachers Carolyn, Patrice and Patty for making this evening possible!
Coming up this week: Wednesday, March 11, we will have our third All-School Gathering of the year in the Meetinghouse at 10:30 am. The theme is "Taking Care of Me," and we will talk as a group about good nutrition, the importance of exercise and good sleep and how to use everyday preventive actions to stop the spread of germs. The Bears and Owls will perform a song about proper handwashing. All are welcome to attend!
I would like to take this opportunity to remind families what you can do in our efforts to keep our community illness-free:
Please do not send children to school if they are sick.
Children with flu, fresh colds, stomach bugs, fever (even low-grade ones) or any other virus should be kept at home and not brought back to school until they are fully recovered and fever-free without the use of medication for at least 24 hours.
Please notify the school when your child is sick and let us know if he or she has been diagnosed with a particular illness such as flu.
Please work with your children at home to remind them of the following common-sense hygiene measures:
- proper hand-washing techniques, using soap and water to scrub for at least 20 seconds
- cough and sneeze into a tissue and/or firmly into elbows
- keep hands away from their eyes, nose and mouth

Goshen Parent Community
Thank you to the families who participated in Parents Night Out and to our amazing teachers who help make this so much fun for our kids! Parents got to chill out while the kids enjoyed a Friday evening at school!

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon - 3/20
We will be hosting a lunch for the teachers and staff during their in service day. Help us give thanks by signing up to donate a soup, salad or beverage.

Book Fair Community Night at Barnes and Noble AND Buddy's Burger's Restaurant Night - 3/26 -
Come join us for an evening of food, fun and friendship at the Book Fair Community Night! Grab a bite to eat at Buddy's Burgers (5 to 9pm) then head over to Barnes and Noble for story time (6 to 8pm) where Goshen's very own teachers will be reading some of their favorite books. Kids can join in the scavenger hunt and make a bookmark while parents browse for books. Don't leave without stopping by the Barnes and Noble cafe and indulging in a green Goshen milkshake! Still time to get in on the fun!
This class is a fun way for children to learn about great modern artists like Frida Kahlo and Andrew Wyeth. We learn a little about their lives when they were young children, then we create a work of art inspired by the artist.
If you are interested in reserving a spot,
