THIS SUNDAY'S SERVICE
"ENOUGH"
REV. FLORENCE CAPLOW
Sunday, November 24 at 10:15 a.m. in Sanctuary

What is enough? How do we know? As we prepare to enter the holiday season, so filled with abundance (and over-abundance) of every kind for some of us, and for others, yearning and wishfulness for such abundance, what is to be learned from the voluntary simplicity movements, as well as modern understanding of the power of mindfulness for bringing compassionate attention to these areas of our lives? The Choir will be singing during this service!

UPCOMING SUNDAY SERVICES
"AWE: THE MIRACLE OF EACH MOMENT"
REV. FLORENCE CAPLOW
Sunday, December 1 at 10:15 a.m. in Sanctuary

It can be so easy to find oneself trudging through life, head down, just enduring. Our December Soul Matters theme is “Awe” and on this first Sunday in December we will be exploring how awe can break in on our routines and wake us up to the sheer wonder of being alive at all. Awe and gratitude can be evoked by the smallest things: a cup of warm tea, an unexpected kindness, or a line of poetry. Come be inspired to look for the tiniest moments of awe in our ordinary, sometimes difficult lives. This service will be live streamed on UUCUC's Youtube channel!

DEMONSTRATE AGAINST THE DEATH PENALTY WITH REV. CAPLOW ON DECEMBER 8

The federal government is planning to resume use of the death penalty on December 9th. In response there will be a national march in Terre Haute Sunday, Dec. 8. The federal penitentiary there is the only federal death row in the US. The event will be from 1 pm to 7 pm, with a program of speakers and music, followed by a march and shared meal. Major speakers include the Rev. Wm. Barber from the Poor People's Campaign and the national president of the NAACP, Derrick Johnson. People who want to go out to the federal prison vigil will gather at 5 a.m., Dec. 9. The execution will be at 7 a.m. unless there is a stay or change in date.

Rev. Caplow will be attending, and the local UU church has offered home hospitality for those who want to stay until the 9th. Contact Rev. Caplow at minister@uucuc.org if you would like more information or would like to go.
