It's never a dull moment around here and I think that's why I love this place so much! My background goes on for a while so I'll be brief: Sales Management for many different banks, entrepreneur all my life, and love brainstorming new concepts. Our Marketing Department handles everything from ad creation, event creation, all collateral, Google ads, media placement, website development, social media. The list goes on but I think you get it.
My Mantra
Reverse engineer everything before jumping. If you can't see the end result and how it will unfold, your efforts will fall short. Have the courage to try new things, fail, and learn from it. Park your ego at the curb and get to know the other person first. A conversation does not = a confrontation.
In life, I have 2 kiddos (21 and 24) and a husband of 34 years that puts up with the best and worst parts of me. Love this chamber of ours and the entire Indian River Community.

Ted S Pankiewicz, Executive Director of For The Love Of Paws Senior Pet Sanctuary Inc, is a New Jersey native having retired to Florida in 2003 after a 30 year career in Law Enforcement. His career included 25 years as a K9 Handler and K9 Trainer, Police Academy Instructor and having received over 100 Department and Community Commendations, several for life saving events. Preceding his Law Enforcement Career, Ted was a U.S. Navy Cytological Technician.
Soon after arriving in Florida, Ted was offered the position of Community Manager of a large local retirement community which later on actually became the catalyst for establishing the Mission Statement of The Love Of Paws Senior Pet Sanctuary Inc..
On January 13, 2013, Teds daughter-in-law Jessica, age 32, wife of Ted's son Ted Jr, unexpectedly passed away from complications of an auto immune disease called “Devic's”. and it had been their dream to establish a Pet Rescue, which they had planned to call “For The Love Of Paws”.
For The Love Of Paws Senior Pet Sanctuary Inc was established in Jessica's name and received it's 501c3 Charity Status in February 2015. It has since grown to where it now provides Sanctuary for Senior Citizens pets when they can no longer care for them, A Paws Meals On Wheels program, providing monthly over 12,000 pounds of FREE pet food to Seniors, Veterans, the Disabled and Low Income families with pets, A Precious Paws Veterinary Fund pays vet bills for low income Senior Citizens and a Fur Real Pet Companionship program for Memory Care patients.
Having just celebrated our 50th wedding Anniversary with my wife “Cookie” Pankiewicz, I can say retirement is anything but boring.

We would like to welcome our newest team member of the chamber staff, Jody Van Order.
She is the new Operations and Tourism Assistant.
|
|
Jody is originally from central Illinois. She and her husband moved/retired to Sebastian in May of 2021. However, they are not new to the area. They were married on the beach at Indialantic 23 years ago. At that time, they fell in love with the Sebastian area returning on several occasions. Jody loves taking advantage of all the outdoor opportunities that the Indian River Lagoon and local parks provide for hiking, biking, kayaking and boating.
Before joining the chamber, Jody spent 30 years working in the education system. She spent ten years working in the higher education field. She began her career as a college admissions counselor then transitioned to the Bradley University Undergraduate Admissions Office Manager. Her next 20 years were spent teaching and coaching in the Illinois public elementary and high school system. Jody feels it is important to be a part of and serve the community in which you live.
