Giving Grace this Holiday Season
I closed the December membership meeting with Olympian Allyson Felix’s words that “WE ARE ALL ENOUGH. GIVE GRACE TO YOURSELF AND OTHERS.” Each of us is only one person with a limited amount of energy and time. We are not perfect and we are not superhuman. Don’t clean your house while beating yourself up about how you should be more organized, cleaner every day, a better person…You don’t deserve to put yourself through all that. Pick your battles. Prioritize what is really important to you. Don’t let others dictate your holiday season for you. Stay PRESENT and ENJOY your time with family and friends!
Maybe you are so used to your internal conversation of negative thoughts that you don’t even recognize them anymore. A negative thought is an assumption created by you, sometimes others. It is not based on fact. The fact may be that you didn’t get the house cleaned before company came over. Your interpretation and judgement are the negative thoughts that ensue. Don’t do this to yourself! Recognize the fact that the house didn’t get cleaned – that’s the fact. No judgement is needed after that. Stop the negative conversation – it’s all in your power.
What a gift to yourself if you can recognize and stop the self judgement. Come from a place of success and achievement! WE ARE ALL ENOUGH. GIVE GRACE TO YOURSELF AND OTHERS. Happy Holidays to me! Happy Holidays to you!
