Reading Lab Volunteers Needed

Zion's Reading Lab provides small group guided reading instruction for all of our kindergarten through second-grade students. Students come to the reading lab 4 times a week for 30 minutes per class. Each day of the reading lab has a specific lesson plan that targets leveled reading, word work, comprehension, and writing.

The reading lab takes place from 8:30 to 10:20 am Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Two volunteers are needed each day for the lab to run. Parents, grandparents, extended family members, or those with any interest in working with students on their reading are encouraged to volunteer.

While there have been no changes to the student dress code, I ask you to visit that section as well and help ensure that our students are following it when they come to school.

Chapel Offerings - Village of Hope Orphanage in Tacoa, Honduras
" Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Luke 6:38
Through His word, God instructs us to offer our gifts to Him for use in His kingdom. That is why part of our weekly worship together in chapel includes a collection of offering, and our students are encouraged to participate in whatever way they can. Our first quarter chapel offerings will be used to support the Honduras mission team and their work at the Village of Hope orphanage.

Preschool News
Preschool Music
From Mrs. Pittman, music education teacher and band director
This year, I have started teaching preschool music classes! I am so excited to have this opportunity!  Starting music at an early age makes such a huge difference in children’s musical development!
The goal of my music classes is to grow “tune-ful”, “beat-ful”, “artful”, and “faithful” music makers. In my music classes, your children will sing, play all sorts of percussion instruments, dance and do hand motions. They will learn about keeping a steady beat, differentiating between loud and soft, fast and slow sounds. They will sing Christian songs to teach them more about Jesus. They will sing folk songs that children have enjoyed singing for many years. They will listen to great classical music to broaden their musical exposure. They will learn to make beautiful music individually and work together to produce an even greater product. Your children will learn that they are each wonderful masterpieces made by God and that one of the attributes that make us great is our ability to make music to praise God!
