A Note from Peter

One of the joys of the summer months is the slower pace of life around the church, just as one of the blessings of less people attending services is that I have more time to visit with people. (The perks of showing up on Sundays!) On Wednesday mornings, we hold a service in the conference room of the admin building for up to a dozen people.

Last week, Patti decided to use a different liturgy—I need to ask her where it’s from exactly—but I want to share with you these words from the Eucharistic prayer:
For Jesus’ life which informs our living,
for his compassion which changes our hearts,
for his clear speaking
which contradicts our harmless generalities,
for his disturbing presence,
              his innocent suffering,
              his fearless dying,
his rising to life breathing forgiveness,
we praise you and worship him.

I probably spend more time talking about God than I do about Jesus or the Holy Spirit. These words about the son make me feel like I need to reintroduce myself, so that I can see more clearly. Summer can be a good time to do that.
Special Note:
We have reclaimed a white cotton William-Sonoma tablecloth (70” x 108”) that has been at the cleaners for some time. If it is yours, it is hanging in the acolyte room.
Upcoming Spire Deadline -- The deadline for submissions for the new Spire that covers the new program year (Sept - Oct) is due on Friday, August 9.
July is once again St. Margaret's month to collect food donations for the food pantry at the Light House shelter. The Annapolis community depends on these donations to get them through the summer months. Please plan to bring your donations to the narthex every Sunday or any day of the week.
Coming Soon: Camp Allen

St. Margaret's will host Camp Allen this summer, from August 5- 9. It is a half-day day camp for the children of the Allen Apartments in the Parole area of Annapolis. We are looking for youth counselors, people to lead or help with crafts and activities on Monday and Tuesday, people to help with registration on Monday and Tuesday, chaperones for field trips on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, and help with preparing and serving snacks and meals. Spanish speaking is not required (although very welcome!). In the upcoming weeks there will be sign-up opportunities in the parish hall, or you may contact coordinator, Sarah Hyde, at 410 562-9904 or email smhyde@aol.com.

Needed for Camp Allen : Boys’ and girls’ new or gently used swimsuits, sizes small to xl child. It is always nice to have a few adult women’s suits also for the mothers who come with us.  Please bring donations and place in the designated box in the narthex closet.
You may have come to St. Margaret’s looking for a church home, for a baptism, or a special service, but you have stayed because of the people you have met. We want to help you connect with more parishioners through our Foyers program --social groups who meet regularly during the program year.
We will be signing up new Foyers participants at Sunday coffee hour now through August 4. If you are not able to do that, you can email webbeth@me.com with your first and last name (as well as all family members who would like to participate) and a preferred contact number and email.
The Foyers Planning Committee members for this coming year are Lesal Kilcrease, Arvilla Wubbenhorst, Janice Roper Graham, and Web Chamberlin.

Coming Soon!

Our church is moving to a new kind of church record keeping and communication tool called Realm®. It not only will serve the administrative needs of our staff, but it also offers some exciting opportunities to support the way you are involved in our church. The user-friendly Realm technology makes it easier for our church family to connect with each other, keep up with what’s going on, and grow as a connected community of believers.

Look for rollout information soon!
