An Opportunity from the Center For Women and Men, DSC

Good Morning,

I recently met an incredible student who is working through life and school as a woman over 40. Shannon is a photography student who is doing a project that she foresee's turning into something even bigger then an assignment. It was inspiring to meet with her and listen to her vision and I agreed to reach out to other inspiring women who make an impact on me. Below you'll see the brief overview of her work and if you are interested in giving Shannon some time to be a part (and you qualify) then please reach out to her and you can both choose a time that works best. If you received this you were blind copied however you can see Shannon's information below to contact her directly. I think this will be empowering for all involved!

The Project:
The working title of my portrait project is "Substantive Beauty". It is centrally focused to showcase and celebrate women over 40-years-old who have / or are overcoming various circumstances, barriers or obstacles in their lives in order to enhance, grow, or change their life for the better.  In addition, it is my full intention to also photographically represent a comprehensive color spectrum of female ethnic and racial diversity.

Through this project I hope to contribute and accomplish three key things:
  1.  Honor and celebrate the maturing woman for all she has to offer the world - especially those in under-served communities.
  2.  Provide a visual voice that the maturing woman is substantive - body, mind & spirit. She is significant, has value, and her beauty shines from the inside out.
  3.  Champion my fellow females by help elevate their self-esteem, self-worth and confidence as they pursue their endeavors via a beautiful photograph of themselves. It is my artistic and creative way of giving back and paying-it-forward to those that have and continue to help me achieve my goals.

OPEN CALL:

Who: Women over 40
What: Student Portrait Final Project - "Substantive Beauty"
Where: DB530 (DSC Photography Building)
When: By appointment - Deadline for completion 11/15/19

Thank you for being an incredible and inspiring woman!
