Musings from Pastor Mary Beth
February 27 2020

It's Thursday after Ash Wednesday, which means we are officially in the season of Lent. The season of Lent is a journey in Christian discipleship and is symbolic of the 40 days Jesus was in the wilderness before setting out on his own ministry journey.

Lent is a season in which we can choose to walk with Jesus to the Cross and ultimately to the promise of the Resurrection.

As a community of faith this Lent, we will take that walk together in worship and study as we seek to follow, to go with Jesus faithfully. We want to learn from Jesus, emulate him, go where he wants us to go, do what he wants us to do. In worship and in small groups we're going to be focusing on five essential spiritual practices that are rooted in Jesus' own walk with God and taught throughout the New Testament.
  • Worship and Prayer
  • Study
  • Serve
  • Give
  • Share
Several of our adult Sunday School classes and our children will be using Adam Hamilton's new resource, "The Walk," to guide their discussion and learning. The staff has just finished reading Hamilton's book and is using it to guide to our worship planning. Copies will be available for purchase this Sunday or you may purchase an e-book to use as your Lent study resource.

You may also sign up to receive a daily Lent devotional by emailing communications@fumcallen.org.

I look forward to how God will deepen our walk together and our walk with Christ as we move through this holy season together.

I'm praying for you.  I hope you're praying for me.

Grateful.

 Pastor Mary Beth
