Fighting for Our Town – Fighting for Our Country
Chairman's Message

Dear Radnor Republicans and Friends:

Belatedly, Happy Independence Day!

Independence Day is always a beautiful holiday to celebrate the creation of the greatest nation on earth and to reflect with pride on the accomplishments and opportunities created by our experiment in liberty and self-governance. The first 243 years have been pretty darn impressive. We remain the beacon of hope and the land of greatest opportunity on the planet. In spite of the border crisis and the enormous resources dedicated to protecting our sovereignty at the southern border, America welcomed 1.2 million new Lawful Permanent Residents in 2018. We welcomed a similar number of legal immigrants in 2017, and will do so again in 2019. Over the holiday, I read Wilfred McClay’s “Land of Hope” in which McClay offers a simple concept for why America remains home to the world’s largest population of immigrants (over 47 million): “The impulse to hope, and to seek to realize one’s hopes in the world, is the inmost spark of the human spirit, every bit as precious as life itself.”

We Republicans have our roots in the fight for independence and the founding principles of this great nation which have sustained the hope for a better life first sought by the earliest European settlers in America. Our federal republic and constitutional democracy envision a limited central government with power vested in the people of the individual states and, by extension, to local government entities.

In my opinion, that first Declaration of Independence was not only a one-time event declaring our independence from England, but a sustaining principle of continued and unprecedented American success. As our nation has evolved over those 243 years, we remain a federal republic dedicated to the principles of republicanism and the opportunity for individuals to hope as they pursue life, liberty and happiness.  How do we know America represents the best hope on earth? Just look at the lines of immigrants clamoring to enter our Land of Hope.

Radnor Has a Better Choice in the 7th Ward

Radnor has a better choice for Commissioner of the 7 th  ward: Tim Frey. Tim will be professional, thoughtful and a great representative of his community. Most assuredly he will not attack members of the community. Even the Democrats are embarrassed by Sean Farhy.

Candidate Statement: Laura Foran for School Board Director

One of my goals as a School Board Candidate is to bring REAL transparency to the Board. The current Board and the refusal to answer even the simplest of questions during the meetings is unacceptable. Too many critical decisions are being made without public dialogue and consent. This is a worrisome practice that needs to stop, and only the Republicans can accomplish this; the current Democrat-controlled Board seems uninterested in the views of the town. This '"we know best" mindset has to be addressed, and the board needs to find a better way to hear from the community that we serve.

Candidate Statement: Matt Mabe for School Board Director

My wife, Megan, and I moved our family to Radnor one year ago this month. Megan's deep family roots here already made the township feel like home. But more importantly, we recognized that the opportunity for our children to attend Radnor schools was one we could not pass up. Like so many young families in Radnor today, we understand and appreciate the inestimable value of the education students receive here. We want to be involved in preserving that legacy of excellence -- as parents, as taxpayers, and, in my case, as a school director.

I see serving on the school board as the chance of a lifetime. It's a way for me to continue a commitment to public service I first made as a young Army lieutenant and to which I have dedicated my entire adult life -- from three tours of combat in Iraq and Afghanistan to my current work serving the families of America's military fallen.

As a veteran, I hope that my leadership on the board will serve as an example to our youth of the importance of fulfilling one's civic duties. As a parent, I want for Radnor's students what I want for my own daughters: to become well-rounded people of character who are prepared for the challenges and opportunities that await them in life. As the son of two teachers, I vow to honor the work of our schools' faculty and staff by giving them the resources they need to do their jobs best. As a taxpayer, I will support common sense policies that maximize the impact of every dollar spent.

A vote for me is a vote for Radnor's future.

Candidate Statement: Mike Miller for School Board Director

My name is Michael Miller, and I am asking for your vote for Radnor School Board. My parents moved us from Drexel Hill to Radnor when I was nine, for the superior Radnor schools. I went to Wayne Elementary and Radnor Middle School before graduating from Radnor High in 1993, where I played football, lacrosse, and golf, was in the marching, jazz and pep bands, and swam for four years, serving as Captain my senior year. I graduated from Union College, class of 1997, with a BA in History. I grew up in Radnor, went to Radnor schools, live in Radnor and work in Radnor. Both of my girls go to Radnor schools (9th and 11th grades at RHS). My companies are in Radnor, where I am the Treasurer of The Philadelphia Investment Banking Company and President of Valley Forge Administrative Services, Inc. We provide litigation support for attorneys, investment banking (corporate finance, divorce valuations, etc.), and claims processing and settlement administration for class-actions. In my spare time, I have served 4.5 years as President of the North Wayne Protective Association, our neighborhood civic group (hay ride, Easter egg hunt, progressive dinner, soap box derby, etc.), after serving as Vice President, and am still on the board. When my girls were younger, I coached them for eight seasons of House league with the Radnor Soccer Club.

In 2015, I was elected to the Radnor School Board to restore the Board to a fully functioning organization that has respect for the public and each other, and that plans for the future financially. Since then, we hired Ken Batchelor as Superintendent, returned our meetings to normalcy, and put the district on a financially sound path. I am proud that I have been appointed by Republican and Democrat Board Presidents to negotiate every contract Radnor has with our seven labor groups, where I have provided support for teachers and employees, while providing fiscal certainty for the long-term. I know first-hand that our facilities do need attention and updating, as I am the chairman of the Facilities Committee, chairman of the RHS Athletic infrastructure project, and vice-chairman of the Finance Committee. The thing that makes a school district in not the buildings; it is the people in them.

Lawrence Tabas Elected Chairman of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania

Lawrence Tabas was elected Chairman of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania on July 13, 2019.

A lifelong Republican and acclaimed expert on election law, Lawrence Tabas is known as a leader who stands by the rank-and-file during campaigns with a never-wavering grace and courtesy that has won the Pennsylvania GOP allies at every level of government.

His successful 2016 defense of President Trump against the Jill Stein “recount” effort secured the Trump presidency and prevented a last-ditch effort to steal the commonwealth’s electoral votes for the Hillary Clinton campaign.

As longtime general counsel to the Republican Party of Pennsylvania, Tabas has argued the cases for GOP candidates at the local, state and federal level.

“Whether a candidate is in the borough council or the White House, the party needs to stand up for democracy and American values,” Tabas explains. “Democracy only works when leaders listen. That’s how I approach my job.”
