Sisters and Brothers,

Although we may still be experiencing summer-like weather, this Sunday we'll return to our regular "Fall" programming. Maybe you've been away or busy with activities this summer. This is the time of the year when we encourage folks to "come back home." Let's get back into the church groove and see if we can't get our attendance numbers back up where they belong!

For those who may be interested, we'll begin offering Membership Classes this Sunday. Our first class will cover Church History (part 1). We'll begin our discussion after a bit of fellowship (so about 12:45 or so). The classes are about an hour long and are open to anyone - even our long-term members who may simply want a refresher.

Aunque todavía podemos estar experimentando un clima veraniego, este domingo volveremos a nuestra programación regular de "Otoño". Tal vez has estado fuera o ocupado con actividades este verano. What is a Kermesse?

A Kermesse is the name of a particular kind of celebration in Mexico. Before a church's patron saint's feast, the people would put on a kind of carnival, complete with booths of food, drinks, games, trinkets, etc. The proceeds of the Kermesse goes to the church to help offset the cost of a particular ministry or to help cover the cost associated with the church's celebration of their patron saint. So a Kermesse is a parish fundraising carnival - Mexican style!

We encourage you to help support this fundraising activity. Invite your friends and neighbors and family. We'll have lots of fun and hopefully raise some money in the process.

¿Qué es un Kermesse?

Un Kermesse es el nombre de un tipo particular de celebración en México. Antes de la fiesta de un santo patrón de la iglesia, la gente organizaba una especie de carnaval completo con puestos de comida, bebidas, juegos, baratijas, etc. Las ganancias de Kermesse van a la iglesia para ayudar a compensar el costo de un ministerio en particular o para ayudar a cubrir el costo asociado con la celebración de la iglesia de su santo patrón. Entonces, un Kermesse es un carnaval de recaudación de fondos de la parroquia, ¡estilo mexicano!

New Translation Devices

We are happy to announce that thanks to Dale Reinschmiedt we have purchased more translation receivers. This should mean that everyone who needs one will have one. Thank you for your generosity and support of this endeavor!

We still need bilingual-speaking volunteers to assist us with this translation ministry.

A New Altar!

For many years a new altar has been on our "liturgical wish-list." The Vestry is happy to announce that we are finally getting one. Estimates for having a custom-made altar similar to the one in this photo built are about $4000 to $6000.

We are happy to announce that Salvador Lopez, one of our own parishioners, is carving a new altar for a fraction of the normal cost. As many of you saw last Sunday from the sample piece, the altar will be beautiful!

Folks can make a donation in memory of those who have died, or in honor of someone. These folks will be included in the liturgy when the altar is dedicated. If you would like to help underwrite the cost of our new altar, please speak to Fr. Dewayne. Once the altar is completed, we will have it consecrated by the bishop.

Un Nuevo Altar!

We are desperately looking for volunteers to serve as Den Leaders! The meetings are planned and you don't have to do too much. However, all Den Leaders must complete the Youth Protection Training (YPT).
Meetings are Thursday's from 6:00 - 7:00 PM.
