Greetings!

Happy 11.11! 11's everywhere - as 11,000 Scientists weigh in with their thoughts on climate change . It's also the single biggest online shopping day worldwide as China adopted this day as Singles Day many years ago. "The holiday has become the largest  offline  and  online  shopping day in the world, with  Alibaba  shoppers exceeding 168.2 billion yuan (US$25.4 billion) in spending during the 2017 celebration. "

Happy Veteran's Day to my Dad,

More than 11,000 scientists from around the world...

The Devil’s Workshop
by Kim Stafford, Oregon Poet Laureate, 2018-2020

To torture your neighbors, some devil said,
I give you my multi-tool that hits so many irritants at once:
it deafens workers so their ears ring, it kicks up killing dust to sicken children,
it spews more poisons to taint the sky in a mere half hour than a truck driving
from the Texas plains to Alaska, and all to hustle leaves from yard to bin.

Have you seen one such contraption chase a single leaf to pirouette
in the blue plume that’s killing us? Have you gritted your teeth
and hated the neighbor you recently enjoyed? Have you missed
your meditative hour with rake and rain, as you walked your way
from summer into fall? My friend, the bar is low. We can do better.
I had 100 iron-on patches made with this image on it. If you'd like one, let me know and I'll mail you one! I've been asking $5 per patch, but I really just want them out there on peoples' clothes spreading the message!
I hope you're doing well. The last 48 hours have been pretty interesting. I've been dreaming for years of taking Steve Goodman 's music and singing it in a series of house concerts around the country and I received a few clear signs that that would be welcomed by the universe. He wrote the song City of New Orleans and many other wonderful tunes.

I found a friend's house to rent for January and February which is in my current Portland neighborhood - so I will be moving for a while, but not too far. Come March, I'll see where I am - perhaps a new home in Portland, travel, house concert series around the US :) If you have a fun suggestion or want to travel together, please let me know.

I'm excited to be in motion.

Much love,

Albert

PS - One thing that's keeping me sane these days on the political front is reading Robert Hubbell's 5x a week political commentary which comes via a newsletter. He does a great job of condensing the day's political news into a even-keeled take on national political events. You can write him and ask to be added to his newsletter.
Today is also Veteran's Day. Here's a kind song by David Wilcox that I like for this day. Here's another version by John Gorka
