8th Grade Biology Presentation

A special thank you to Dr. Lyman for bringing an amazing cardiovascular experience to our 8th-grade biology class this week. The students were able to play around with stents, catheters, and even practiced packing brain aneurysms using real catheters. This was quite the treat for our biology students!

Help GSA Support Local Organizations

This upcoming Tuesday, April 27, the 8th graders from the Peabody Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) are holding a Bake Sale to fundraise for GLSEN and the Charlottesville Pride Community Network. These organizations support and raise awareness about LGBTQ+ issues and rights.

GLSEN is an American education organization working to end discrimination, harassment, and bullying based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.

The Charlottesville Pride Community Network works to create a vibrant, visible, and inclusive LGBTQ+ community presence in Charlottesville, Albemarle, and the surrounding region that promotes equality through events, education, outreach, and advocacy.

All the profits will be split between the two organizations. There will be everything from brownies to macarons. Please fill out the form to order your sweet treats!

Neighbors-4-Neighbors School Food Drive

Each year Peabody participates in the Neighbors-4-Neighbors school food drive to support the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank (BRAFB). It started in 2011 and involves many public and private elementary, middle and high schools and other community organizations. The school food drive is typically held in March and April when food donations are low.

This year Kat Ravichandran, a Peabody alum, is serving as the food drive’s student coordinator! Kat is an 11th-grade student at Albemarle High School with a strong passion for fighting food insecurity in our community.

This year’s school food drive will be held from April 12 - April 30. All food donations will benefit our neighbors in need served by 37 partner food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters in the Thomas Jefferson area. Thank you in advance for your generous support to help fight hunger.

2020-21 Annual Fund

Your participation in the Peabody Annual Fund provides essential operating support to Peabody. The generosity of our community supports almost everything that keeps Peabody running, from salaries and classroom technology to arts and supplies. This year, we are also faced with increased expenses for items such as technology infrastructure upgrades, outdoor learning spaces, additional cleaning supplies and protective equipment, and additional aid to Peabody students and families who felt the financial impact of COVID-19. We hope that you will support Peabody in this area and that you will keep in mind that your Annual Fund gift, of any size, really matters to the school.

Thank you in advance for your consideration of a gift to Peabody School for the 2020-21 year and for being such strong supporters of our wonderful school!
