(Live Webinar)

When: August 13, 2021, 10-1:15 pm, EST

Presenter : Julia Knach, LCPC, LCADC, RPT-S

FREE: NO COST, REGISTRATION REQUIRED

Description:
The Polyvagal Theory originally introduced by Stephen Porges, MD, has revolutionized the field of psychotherapy, particularly working with clients who have experienced trauma. The Polyvagal Theory has also changed how we assess and create treatment plans. Additionally, it has also changed how we understand the importance of the therapist’s way of being in the therapy space, and not just what we are doing in the space. This training will explain the different systems within the theory and how individuals switch through them, and how this helps guide therapists in their responses and interactions with clients. Participants will be introduced to the Polyvagal Theory, and how to integrate this knowledge into clinical practice.

Objectives:
  • Describe neurosception, exploration and safety
  • Identify various ways in which safety shows up in the therapy room
  • Demonstrate how to use the Polyvagal Theory with various clients

Presenter:
Sonia Hinds is the founder and Executive Director of Barstow Acres Children’s Center, a 501c3 non-profit private practice in Calvert County, providing mental health services to children and families since 2003.
