WEEKLY UPDATE FROM THE VESTRY

The Vestry will begin interviewing potential Interim Rector candidates in the beginning/mid August. Our hope is to have an Interim in place by early fall.

The Dogwood tree in the carriage circle is dying and needs taken down. It is always difficult, emotionally, to remove trees. However, in this case, the tree has lived a good life and for the safety of people and the church building it needs to comes down. In the fall, a new tree will be planted by the Youth Group in honor of Jim and Cynde Bimbi. They will work with the property committee to determine what kind of tree would be appropriate and the best place to plant it for posterity.

Thank you for your continued prayers and positive thoughts during this time.

Respectfully,
The Vestry

PARISH SUMMER PICNIC

This year's Parish Picnic to celebrate St. James Day
will be on Sunday, July 28th, in the Parish Hall,
following the 9:00 AM service.
Since our service will be at 9:00, this year's picnic will be a covered dish brunch. Please bring some food for the brunch if you can. If you can't bring something, come anyway! Hope to see you there!

BACK-TO-SCHOOL 2019

We are again collecting donations for the underprivileged children who need uniforms, backpacks, school supplies, shoes, and haircuts. Delaware Health & Social Services will use our donations to be sure the children can return to school with pride and a feeling of belonging. Any size donation is gratefully accepted.

Please write your check to St. James' Church, with a notation of "Back-to-School." Last Sunday is July 28.

Thanks very much!

Thanks from a Family Promise Family

We recently received this note from one of the families that we have helped break the cycle of homelessness through Family Promise. It was so touching that we wanted to share. The note is as follows:

Thank you guys for your hospitality. Our own family didn't make us feel at home and wanted as you guys did. We appreciate what you did for our family. All of your Volunteers are the best. They are dedicated, very special people. I loved that we had supper every night and shared our day, which in turn helped everyone have a great night, sleep, and wake up to very productive days. Thank you again.

Volunteers, thank you for all you do for Family Promise. You are truly making a difference.
