Dear Families,
We are in full swing here at school. The students are all settled in and a routine is in place. I want to give a big welcome to our K3 students who started this week. We are glad to have them with us.
We have had a few days with our new Hot Lunch Program,
4 P's in a Pod
. Just a reminder that hot lunch does not come with a drink. You also need to order your drink separately for cold lunch. Click on the link to the left for ordering.
The school's code is SMEG.
Next Wednesday is our first Spirit Day. Students can wear anything that has SMV on it or anything that is blue and gold.
Save the date! Sunday, September 15th, from noon-2pm is the annual St. Mary's Visitation Parish Picnic. This is sponsored by St. Mary's Visitation Home and School in appreciation to the parish for their support. Lunch is free, please come and join us.
Saturday, October 19th, is the Catholic Schools Walk for Education at Mount Mary University. If you haven't signed up yet, you need to register by Tuesday, September 19th, to receive your free t-shirt. Remember that 100% of the pledge money you raise stays as St. Mary's. Go to
www.catholicschoolswalk.org
to register under the St.Mary's Visitation Team. Whether you donate or not, we would love for you to walk with us! All money that is donated will be used for the Makerspace.
Have a wonderful week.

The first Cub Scout Pack Meeting of the 2019-20 School Year is Monday, September 9th from 6:00 - 7:30 in the SMV Cafeteria. Cub Scouts is for boys in K5 - 5th Grade. We have a great year planned with fun activities while building character and making friends.
For all families not currently in Cub Scouts, please feel free to attend and learn what scouting at SMV is all about!
After School Spanish
Once again we are offering afterschool Spanish for grades K5 thru 5th beginning October 7. Click here for more details.
SMV Library
Library classes will be beginning soon. Volunteers are needed for most grades. It takes just thirty minutes to help the children check out their books. This can be as little as once per month or as much as every week. Please see the library schedule in the LINK section and contact Miss Benson if interested. The need is greatest with K4. (All volunteers must take the Safeguarding class.) Thank you for considering this fun activity.

Everyone who visits school has surely enjoyed the absolutely lovely gardens in our front courtyard! There are two very dedicated moms, Patty Steigerwald (also known as the fabulous Miss Patty) and Annette Walters, who work tirelessly to keep everything so beautiful. Miss Patty and Mrs. Walters give their time, even throughout the summer months, making sure the weeds are gone, the seeds are planted and the colors are stunning for all that enter SMV. Thank you Miss Patty and Mrs. Walters, your dedication to our school is Positively SMV! You surely help put a smile on the faces of all those that enter our school!

Hola! My name is Maria Paglianti and I'm happy to be the new Spanish teacher at SMV! Brookfield is home with my husband Steve and my two social girls ages 8 and 12. Our family was completed when our youngest arrived at 2 weeks old and our forever family was made official almost 3 years later. In our community, my husband began his Architectural Design firm, we have served in our church as group leaders for 12 years and I'm honored to be serving our school district in the Tech Advisory Committee on new technology initiatives. My education consists of a BBA and a Spanish certification from UWM and a diploma from WCTC as a Spanish Interpreter.
Although born in WI, Spanish was my first language learned and I have strived to continue speaking Spanish as my second language. Volunteering as an interpreter at ProHealth Care for a year by helping doctors communicate with their patients was an enlightening experience. Growing up traveling to Mexico yearly and visiting two to four weeks at a time, was a culture learning adventure. There is much value in learning to speak Spanish and understanding the Hispanic culture so it's a blessing to have that opportunity in middle school. The SMV students have welcomed me with kindness and with respect in class and I look forward to a fun year hablando mucho EspaƱol!

St. Mary's Visitation will be showing the critically acclaimed and inspiring movie "Unplanned" on Monday, Sept. 23 at 6:30 pm in the parish atrium. "Unplanned" is the true story of a Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson, who after eight years of as passionate Planned Parenthood spokesperson and counselor with involvement in more than 22,000 abortions, abruptly quits her job after witnessing for the first time an ultrasound guided abortion. Her journey of transformation led her to become one of the most ardent pro life speakers in America.
Please mark your calendars and join us. Admission is free. Though this movie is rated R for moderately graphic images, students under 17 are welcome, but must be accompanied by parent or guardian.
You won't want to miss this opportunity to see this most important movie on the most controversial issue of our time.
