PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

August was a busy month for us here at the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization, and we are even more excited about what lies ahead in September!

In August, we heard the breaking news that  White House aides evacuated over an asbestos risk in the West Wing offices . Once again reaffirming there is no safe level of asbestos exposure and the need for a comprehensive asbestos ban. Watch for news -- ADAO is very excited about the increasing momentum for the bicameral  Alan Reinstein Ban Asbestos Now Act.

Success. Last week, we held our 14th Congressional Staff Briefing titled " Impact of Asbestos on Public Health, Environment, and Economy " which brought together almost 60 staffers from nearly 30 states. Thanks to our esteemed panel of speakers, Dr. Raja Flores, Patrick Morrison, Mike Mattmuller, and Bob Sussman, we shared the irrefutable facts, new mortality data, and ADAO's newly published Chlor-Alkali Industry report detailing raw asbestos imports and the production of industrial chlorine and caustic soda.

ADAO is honored to present at the  2019 OSHAfrica conference later this month and expand collaborative occupational safety and health efforts with the WHO, IOSH, ICOH, and many others.

This September we will take part in the   Mesothelioma Awareness Month, with Mesothelioma Awareness Day falling on September 26.  Join us -- there are many ways to raise awareness, honor or remember a Warrior throughout the month of September, and share time with the community.

Here are three ways:
  • To include your Warrior in ADAO's 2019 Memorial Dedication Video by complete  this simple form and attach their photos.
ADAO is proud to share our new personalized fundraising platforms with the community. Now all our supporters have the opportunity to start a  memorial page for their loved ones and/or dedicate a  special occasion sporting activity or  corporate event to help fund educational, advocacy and community initiatives for preventing asbestos exposure.

Together, we are making change happen.
