Disaster Areas
On July 11, 2019, FHA published the quarterly update to its Single-Family Housing Policy Handbook 4000.1. One of the revisions included clarification of the incident end date policy for when inspections may be performed for properties located in Presidentially-Declared Major Disaster Areas (PDMDAs).

The damage inspection report must be dated after the Incident Period (as defined by FEMA) OR 14 days from the Incident Period start date, whichever is earlier. If the effective date of the appraisal is on or after this date, a separate damage inspection is not necessary.

The Loan Delivery Guide will be updated to reflect these changes as quickly as possible.
