1. Join the Climate Strike on Friday, September 20, 2019
On September 20, three days before the UN Climate Summit in NYC, young people and adults will strike all across the US and world to demand transformative action be taken to address the climate crisis. Millions will take to the streets to demand a right to a future, and we're inviting you to
#strikewithus.
The League of Women Voters of Illinois stands with youth in fighting for action with the
International Climate Strike on September 20. The League is supporting the plaintiffs in Juliana vs. United States, where youth claim that the government's affirmative actions have caused climate change, and therefore have violated the youngest generation's constitutional rights to life, liberty, and property, as well as failed to protect essential public trust resources. The League has filed three amicus briefs in support of the plaintiffs.
