NATIONAL INSTITUTE ON AGING TO RELEASE REPORTS ON THE FUTURE OF LONG-TERM CARE IN CANADA
Each year, the National Institute on Aging (NIA) identifies a key policy challenge to address through expert research, broad engagement, and actionable reports. This year, the NIA is launching a three-part policy series that examines the current system of home and community, and of care delivered for older Canadians in designated buildings such as nursing homes.
The first report of the series will explore what the provision of long-term care currently looks like across Canada and place it within the global context of comparable countries that are also tackling significant demographic transitions and redeveloping their systems of care.
The second report will investigate the projected future costs of providing care in designated buildings such as nursing homes across Canada, if no action is taken to advance the status quo.
The third and final report of the series will bring together experts in financial and health policy to present options and recommendations for a feasible and fiscally responsible set of policy scenarios, which bring the right type of needed reforms to our future systems of care.

Volunteer Management Professionals of Canada (VMPC) is thrilled to announce the launch of a national award program in partnership with Better Impact. The Impact Awards will recognize the work of volunteer engagement professionals in Canada. Nominations are being accepted until Sept. 14 and will be awarded live during the VMPC Hybrid Conference on Oct. 22 and 23.

In June 2019, the Government of Canada released Catalyst for Change: A Roadmap to a Stronger Charitable Sector, the product of recent Canada-wide consultation with non-profits and charities. Its 42 recommendations set a roadmap for a much healthier and more resilient future for the charitable sector. This important discussion will address what the Senate report could mean for your non-profit and is a great opportunity to get to know the report, meet other board members, and join the conversation.
