State Chamber Update
We have hit the mid-point in Summer 2019! By now, many DSCC members have taken to the road and vacationed at the beach or elsewhere in the First State or Mid-Atlantic. For me, early August now means getting ready to take one of my college-aged kids back to school. And, that’s exactly what I’m doing later this week as I help my oldest daughter return to school and move into her apartment in Iowa City, Iowa. Wherever you are driving, it’s always helpful to know what to expect when you pull up to the pump for refueling. Thanks to valued DSCC Member AAA Mid-Atlantic, we can share some interesting data on current and historical gas prices from Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
*Higher prices in New Jersey due to full-service model
Ken Grant, Public and Governement Manager for AAA Mid-Atlantic shared interesting travel information with the Chamber, "Here in Delaware, we’ve seen more than 133,000 Delaware residents travel 50 miles or more during the Independence Day holiday – 117,000 by car, more than 10,000 by air, and others enjoying rail, cruises, and other forms of transportation. So, what’s causing the increase in travel? In addition to lower gas prices compared with last summer, broader economic fundamentals remain strong. Low unemployment, robust consumer spending, and rising disposable incomes are all encouraging Delawareans to invest their hard-earned money in travel this summer."
