COVID-19 and Fires Local Update

FIRE RESOURCES AND UPDATES
CalFire reported this afternoon that evacuation orders and warnings have been lifted for ALL zones on the River Fire and the Carmel Fire. ALL road closures have been lifted as well. Residents returning home should use caution and check water safety. Commodity distribution points have been set up to provide assistance. "Huge thanks to the community for your patience and support throughout these fires." Here are stats as of this afternoon:

Monterey Conference Center Serving FEMA In New Role During Fires
The Monterey Conference Center is in the process of being switched from a shelter site to a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Disaster Recovery and Resource Center. FEMA reservists from around the country were here this afternoon developing operation plans and setup. We will have more information tomorrow about hours of operation and more. It will be for Monterey County fire victims only.
COVID-19 UPDATES
Updated 8/21 - Health Advisory for Businesses from the Monterey County Health Department
The Monterey County Health Department has issued an updated COVID-19 Health Advisory for Business with information for business on managing cases, individual back to work protocols, and prevention.

They also have a call center available Monday - Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM for any COVID-19-related question. Call (831) 769-8700.

City of Monterey Accepting Applications for Alternates on the NCIP Committee.
The City of Monterey is now accepting applications for the Neighborhood and Community Improvement Program (NCIP) Committee for the position of alternate for the following neighborhoods: Aguajito Oaks, Alta Mesa, Deer Flats, Del Monte Beach, Del Monte Grove Laguna Grande, Glenwood, and Villa del Monte. 

If you are a resident of the City of Monterey in one of the above neighborhoods and are interested in these volunteer positions, you are encouraged to apply. Serving on a Board or Commission is a great way to get involved in what makes Monterey a great place to live. A description of the position is included in the application, available online at https://monterey.org/City-Hall/Boards-Commissions-and-Committees

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until seats are filled.
