Welcome to the Fall 2019 GV CREW Season!
Practices start this Friday, September 6
Information Night
Mandatory Meeting! All rowers (old and new) and one parent/guardian should plan to attend.

Important information regarding practices, regattas, carpools, swim tests, and fundraisers will be discussed.

Spirit wear will be available for purchase.

New to Rowing?
What to expect, wear and what you need to bring with you:
  • Sessions will be rain or shine.
  • Rowers should be prepared for all conditions, hot, cold and wet.
  • Most days will be on the water, wear sunscreen and a hat for protection. On rainy days, rowers should have a pullover waterproof jacket; unless the coach deems water conditions unsafe due to heavy flow and debris, we will row in the rain.
  • All participants should come prepared to work out, with close-fit clothing that allows full range of motion.  Stretch/yoga pants or compression shorts are ideal, jeans and basketball shorts are not.
  • Please do not bring cell phones or jewelry on the water.
  • Bring a non-disposable water bottle for use in the boat every day. Please pack a snack for before practice, the kids will be hungry!
  • Interested in carpooling to practices? Did you fill out the interest form?
Swim Test for New Rowers
Time and place TBD

Swim 2 laps and tread water 5 minutes wearing sweats.

Crew Fall Registration is OPEN!

  • There is No Experience necessary for you to row with us!
  • Boys & Girls Grades 8-12. Note: 8th graders can train and practice, but are not eligible to compete in the regattas.
  • There is NO TRANSPORTATION provided to practices in Delaware or to our regattas in Philly, NJ and DEL. There is a voluntary parent-led carpool for those that want to participate.
  • We row out of Wilmington Youth Rowing Association, WYRA, the address is 500 E Front St, WILMINGTON, DEL 19801.
  • Practices begin on September 6th, 2019.
  • PRACTICES are MONDAY-WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY 3:45-6:15pm and SATURDAYS at WYRA from 10am to 1pm.
  • Registration closes September 24.
  • PLEASE NOTE:  This is a competitive rowing team, we need your full commitment to all practices and regattas. We need the whole team at every practice to ensure we can get on the water ever day the weather conditions allow. We lowered the number of weekday practices when we moved to WYRA, due to the commute and respecting the rowers need to have time for school work.  So more than ever, we need full commitment, one rower missing practice means an entire boat has to stay on-land.
