COTS Jr Youth - Fall Retreat at Camp Wanake!

What if Jr Hi youth could make things right & change the world through kindness? We believe they CAN & it's what God seeks. Come with us to Camp Wanake for a couple days & through games & activities we get to know each other & God better AND have fun. It's THE BEST way for the youth to gel as a group. For youth grades 6-8. Friends are invited!

NOTE:  Only ONE online registration form may be submitted per email address.  It is possible, however, to register multiple participants using this form.  (Select "Add" in the "Additional Participants" section.)  If you need to make a change to your submitted registration form please contact Curt and he'll take care of you.

Some FAQs...
Will there be the Intergalactic Capture the Flag Championship?
Yes!  At night.  In the dark.
Will we do the Wanake Fall Festival with horse rides & wagon rides & s'mores?
Yes!  But you don't have to ride or s'more.
Can I bring my friend(s)?
Yes!  They are invited, too.
Can I come late or leave early?
Yes - best to do the whole thing, but let Curt know and he'll try to connect you with others to save on some driving.
Do we sleep in tents?
No - sorry.  We stay in a very nice heated/air conditioned retreat center with showers and bunk beds
How's the food?
Just right.
Here’s what you need to know:
  • Be at church on Friday, September 27 at 5:30 pm with all your stuff.
  • We’ll eat at the church before we go.(If you can’t be at church at 5:30 on Friday and have made other plans, please let Curt know. Some are meeting us there late and some are leaving the retreat early.)
  • We’ll return to church on Sunday, September 29 at 12:15 pm.
  • Dietary restrictions? Let Curt know ASAP.
  • COTS Child/Youth Medical Waiver & Permission Slip must be on file.
  • Phone numbers for emergencies:
  • 216-903-9610 (Curt Campbell’s cell phone)
  • 330-756-2333 (Camp Wanake Office)
  • Camp Asbury address: 9463 Manchester Ave SW, Beach City, OH 44608
What to bring:
  • Your Bible (We've got one you can have if you don't own one)
  • Casual, comfortable clothes for inside (heat and A/C!)
  • Clothes warm enough or cool enough for outdoors in the day and evening. It can get chilly after dark. An extra pair of shoes/boots is a good idea for wet or dirty conditions.
  • Rain gear is great if you’ve got it – it could be wet.
  • Personal items – medications, toothbrush/paste, lotion, deodorant, soap, shampoo
  • Shower stuff – towel, washcloth, etc (there are plenty of showers)
  • Pillow and sleeping bag or sheets & blanket (the camp has bunk beds)
  • A plastic drinking cup or water bottle with your name on it to use for the weekend
  • Snack or drink to share - please not ALL chips - we like fruit...and veggies and granola bars, etc, too!
  • Optional: flashlight, board game, football, soccer ball, frisbee, cards, etc.
  • NOTE FROM WANAKE: "We are asking guest to freshly launder their bedding in order to help prevent the spread of bed bugs.  By that Wanake means at least 30 minutes in a dryer on high heat and packed immediately into a sealed bag or inspected luggage (duffle bags may also be treated in a dryer on high heat). Bedbugs have become a prevalent problem in northeast Ohio and across the United States.  Wanake wants to protect campers and guests and their families and the camp itself from expensive and inconvenient treatments.  Please make sure that all linens, sleeping bags, and pillows are freshly laundered immediately prior to your arrival at Wanake.  Laundering should include at least thirty minutes in a dryer on high temperature.  Wanake has a protocol in place to respond rapidly to any incident involving bedbugs.  It’s a good idea, between any overnight destinations, whether vacation or camp, to inspect luggage and to launder all bedding, drying for at least 30 minutes at high temperature."

What NOT to bring:
(Parents: We are asking for your help with this. Do not wave goodbye to your son or daughter without their phone and tablet or whatever in your hand. We understand it may be difficult for your daughter or son to go without, but these items undercut the ability of your daughter or son to be fully present at the retreat and often create problems. Thank you!)
  • No cell phones, please! Adults will have cell phones for emergencies, but the youth will be RETREATING from the cloud and the outside world for 42 hours and 45 minutes.
  • No valuable that you’d be upset if it was lost or broken – that’s just not fun. Please leave your valuables at home.

Start praying now for God to bless our weekend!
