Student Perception Survey ToolkitSPS

CSTP is excited to launch the new Student Perception Survey Toolkit. This set of tools and resources was developed by a cadre of teachers from across the state to support teachers in administering and reflecting on  a newer resource available to all teachers in eVAL, the state's evaluation management system - Student Perception Surveys of learning and teaching .

The Toolkit includes a guide to engage students in further conversations around the feedback they provided their teacher, reflective questions for teacher growth and action planning to self-monitor implementation of new strategies and practices.

Learn more about the new Student Perception Survey toolkit during our informational webinar on Thursday, October 17th from 7-8 PM. Register now for the webinar.

Takeover CSTP's Instagraminstagram

We would like to thank NBCT Shari Conditt. Shari is a civics/history teacher at Woodland High School in Woodland, WA, and took over our Instagram two weeks during August. During the first week she showed us how Woodland supports their new teachers and gave us an insider look into their training program. In the second week, we got a behind the scenes look into the first week of school to see what it takes to get the students ready for the new year. You can find these stories at the top of our Instagram page in highlights under "Shari Conditt".

Do you have something exciting coming up in your classroom or school that you would be interested in highlighting on our Instagram? We are looking to line-up monthly takeovers during the 2019-2020 school year. It can be an afternoon takeover or a week-long activity. If you are interested in taking over our account please apply at https://goo.gl/forms/m8me3LMAWrMan1C53.
Washington State NBCT Mark Gardner on EdutopiaMark

NBCT and Stories From School blogger Mark Gardner recently posted on Edutopia to discuss why he engaged his students with lesson planning .

"An early-career lesson flop taught me this. A class discussion about To Kill a Mockingbird sidetracked into a dialogue comparing Atticus Finch to Adolf Hitler. No matter how politely, or forcefully, I redirected the conversation, students were excited about (and ultimately successful at) locating text evidence to support that conclusion."

Read how he shares his planning with students in " The Benefits of Sharing Our Planning With Students " on the Edutopia website.
