Tuesday, September 10th at 10 a.m.


Recycling in Transylvania County
Kenn Webb, Solid Waste Director for Transylvania County, will present information on recycling and reducing trash going to our landfill.
The program will be held on Thursday, September 12th from 6:30 - 7:30 at the Board of Elections conference room, 150 South Gaston St. Brevard.

Mushroom and Ginseng workshops this October!!!
"A great class for shady people"

If your backyard is covered in the lovely peaceful shade of our forests, but you'd still like to do something productive with it, this class is the answer! We'll go over many different aspects of both mushroom and ginseng production. 

Food Fermentation Workshop 
Learn more about the health benefits of fermentation. Participate in a hands-on workshop where you will learn to make sauerkraut, kimchee, yogurt and kombucha.

Master Gardeners at the Farmers Market

Master Gardeners will be the Transylvania Farmers Market on the first and 3rd Saturday of each month. This month we'll focus on preserving your harvest, season extension and invasive plants. Come visit our booth with all your questions!

Carolina Meat Conference
NC Choices Carolina Meat Conference is a nationally recognized event, specifically focused on bringing together every part of the meat supply chain. Farmers, chefs, butchers, and industry leaders convene for two-days of unparalleled networking, hands-on training, and technical and business assistance.

Hemlock Treatment Workshop 
There are many threats from invasive pests to our forests in Western NC and the Hemlock Wooly Adelgid is one of the worst. Come learn how you can protect your trees and our ecosystem with this full day workshop. 


What's Bugging YOUR Forest? 
If you have hemlocks on your property that are close to a stream or lake, then you probably qualify for financial assistance to get them treated! Hemlocks play a very important role in our ecosystem and when you take care of them, you're taking care of everyone.
