NJCTS Tim Howard Leadership Academy Highlights

The NJCTS Tim Howard Leadership Academy is the only program of its kind held on a university campus. The four-day intensive learning experience teaches kids with Tourette Syndrome about their disorders preparing them for the future at college and beyond. From August 1 to 4, teenagers from as far as California and Puerto Rico took part in the 2019 Academy where the themes of self-empowerment, self-leadership, and resilience were threaded through various roundtable discussions, panels and a sessions.

We could cover a lot of highlights from the Academy, but we wanted to let the participants tell you how they felt!

Youth Advocate Workshops are Scheduled for October

Being a part of the Youth Advocate program is a great way to meet others with TS, as well as a unique opportunity to show the importance of standing up for yourself and others.

The Twitcha Tour Continues

NJCTS Youth Advocate, author and illustrator, Sarah Baldwin, met with US Congressman Jeff Van Drew to discuss her comic book Twitcha and the importance of self-advocacy. She then signed copies of Twitcha for the kids who attended a showing of Incredibles 2 in downtown Somerville. While Sarah is off to college, NJCTS will be working on introducing Twitcha to school districts across New Jersey!

Back to School Help is Available

Connections Made at the Second Annual NJCTS Family Picnic

Members of the NJCTS community, new and old, came together at the annual Family Picnic at Johnson Park in Piscataway. While the kids played, parents connected with each other and learned more about NJCTS. We hope everyone had a blast!
