From The Head of School
Miniature

By: Adrianne Finley Odell- Head of School
Noun: (Min-EE-a-CHur) a thing that is much smaller than normal, especially a small replica or model.

This Thursday night is Miniature School night at Roycemore, however, other than shortened schedules, there will be nothing SMALL about this night. Many schools call this night, “Back-to-School Night.” It is an opportunity for parents and guardians to visit Roycemore to hear from their childrens’ teachers about what to expect for the year ahead.

Our faculty and students, however, are thinking BIG! There is much to be excited about and we look forward to sharing this with you. You don’t want to miss this evening where you won’t just hear about what your child will be experiencing in their classes, but about some of the bigger picture thinking that is taking place at Roycemore. We also have a very special announcement about an event and opportunity for our Upper School students this fall; an event which we will be the first high school in the world to host!

Come share the excitement of the new year and hear about how YOU can get involved.

Parking Reminder

Just a reminder that we ask families not to park in the reserved parking spaces. Those are saved for Auction Winners and Admissions visitors and we want to make sure they can access those spaces when needed.

Thank you!

Three Cheers

How did you spend your summer vacation? One student used her summer break to help care for the newly planted Roycemore Garden! The project started last year in the 4th grade classroom with students making a worm compost and planting seedings in their room. Fruits and vegetables were eventually moved to the outside garden along the south side of the building. Other grades got involved and lots of students took turns during the spring watering and weeding to help the garden flourish.

However, the real fruits of their labor would not be realized until later in the year. So the question became, who would come to campus during the summer months to help care for the crops? Fifth Grader, Maci took the lead and for weeks she stopped by campus multiple times to water, weed, and tend to issues such as overcrowding. Throughout the summer, she was able to harvest tomatoes, onions, carrots, hot peppers, green beans, basil, and rosemary! Great job Maci!
