Beyond Categorical Thinking:
The Van Gogh Caf

"The problem with stereotypes is not that they are wrong. The problem with stereotypes is that they reduce people to a single story." -Chimanda Adochie. We'll look at stereotypes and story in the context of our ministerial search.  Keith Kron, Director of Transitions at the UUA and Rev. Martha Munson.

This Week's Drop-In Discussion: Our Gridlocked Government.  What does it say about our American system that we have to worry about our government shutting down or not paying its bills?  Is there a better way?  Phil Ebersole will lead a discussion.

Beyond Categorical Thinking Workshop

The Rev'd Keith Kron, Transitions Director for the UUA, will be at First Universalist on Saturday morning (9 - 12:30) to lead a workshop about your Search.  Ministers who are "looking" often talk with Keith about congregations.  So it is vitally important that Keith experience the strong, vibrant, engaged people that you are. So, please plan to attend.  Show him who you really are!

Keith is my colleague, and I've attended many workshops that he's led; I can all but guarantee that he will be insightful and interesting. Your time will we well spent, in more ways than one!

Survey Results

Curious about the results from the Congregational Survey you completed for the Ministerial Search? Your curiosity can be satisfied in several ways:

*   Check our church website under the MSC tab to view the survey charts in color: http://uuroc.org/wp-content/uploads/MSC-Survey-2013.pdf

*   Find the MSC section of the Clara Barton Lounge bulletin board to see a paper copy

*   Pick up a paper copy after the service

The results are intriguing.  You'll find surprises, affirmations, and puzzles.  Check the survey and see for yourself.
