Business Matters Recently, all businesses of all sizes in all industries have struggled as a result of the economic downturn. However overall small businesses have tended to struggle the most, for a few reasons. One is that large numbers of customers have been delinquent or even defaulted in making payments to businesses for their products and services. Such activity hurts small businesses more because they are less able to absorb these loses as a result of their size and their tight margins. Another is the continuing introduction of new and revised government regulations coupled with the ongoing threat of identity theft breaches and compromises. Again, while these pose a challenge to all businesses, they pose unique challenges to small business owners, which rarely have the manpower and the expertise to stay abreast of all of the requirements associated with these regulations, as well as, the money required to be in compliance.
