Welcome to the October edition of Your City @ Work, a monthly online newsletter. Our goal is to keep you up to date on pending issues and actions before the City Commission so that you can participate in the decision making process. We hope you will find this form of communication educational and informative.

CITY NEWS
DUNEDIN IS ON THE MOVE
City Departments, located in the Municipal Services building, (Utility Billing, HR and Finance) have moved to their respective temporary locations; Finance to the Community Center , and HR and Utility Billing to the MLK Jr. Recreation Center. Economic Development, City Clerk, Planning & Development (Building Division, Code Enforcement Division, Zoning Division) and the Engineering Division will be relocated to 1415 Pinehurst Road  on Wednesday, October 23, 2019.


DUNEDIN FIRE DEPARTMENT
Congratulations to Joshua Iorio for his promotion to Lieutenant and to Sergej Vukota for Firefighter of the Year!

This award is presented each year to a deserving Dunedin Firefighter. Nominations are accepted from each of the three shifts and the awardee is selected from that group.
DID YOU KNOW?
“Did You Know?” is the City’s educational effort where the goal is to share information that residents may not be aware of. Topics will include traffic, Parks & Rec, Code Enforcement, and more.

YOU SPOKE, WE LISTENED

We will be highlighting efforts that the City has already, or plans to address and resolve. “You Spoke, We Listened” will highlight solutions to priorities that residents are passionate about.

FILMS IN THE PARK
Grab your blanket and picnic basket and head downtown for a relaxing evening watching a movie under the night sky. Free to attend. Concessions will be available. This is one of Dunedin's Parks and Recreation department's most popular events.




CITIZEN'S ACADEMY
The 2019 Dunedin Citizens' Academy is underway. During this nine week course, participants get a behind the scenes look into how government works and the functions of various City departments, including Public Services, Fire/EMS, Parks & Recreation, Water Services, Engineering, Planning & Development, City Commission/City Manager’s Office and more.

STONE CRAB FESTIVAL
This is a 2 day event: Friday and Saturday. October 18 + 19 , 2019. The Dunedin Stone Crab Festival is fun for people of all ages. Friends, family, kids, and pets will enjoy Edgewater Park marina views and eclectic downtown vibes. The picturesque views of the sunset, a nice sea breeze, and the backdrop filled with sailboats will calm your soul and feed your spirit. 


FLORIDA GULF COAST HOPE SPOT CELEBRATION
Join the City of Dunedin, Blue Green Connections, Mission Blue, and Dr. Sylvia Earle in downtown Dunedin for a day of festivities celebrating the newest Mission Blue Hope Spot!

NEW GOLF CART CROSSINGS

Effective September 28, the City's Code of Ordinances was amended to provide for approved crossings of County Road 1 and of State Roads.There are several other codes adopted such as; requiring red reflector warning devices; requiring lap seat belts for children 16 years of age and under and several others.

PUBLIC MEETING

A public meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, 6-8:00 pm at the Hale Activity Center,  330 Douglas Avenue . The proposed new City Hall in downtown will be discussed, and the architect and City staff will be available to answer any questions and receive comments and feedback from the public.

Mayor Proclaims October as-P.T.A. Enrollment Month
On Friday, Oct.4, 1946, Mayor Grant Casity this week issued a proclamation establishing October as Parent-Teacher Enrollment Month in Dunedin, to coincide with the annual membership enrollment for that month by the Florida P.T.A. Congress.
