A Message From Our President
I hope everyone had a wonderful summer and is getting settled into a new school year now that it is September. I know it always feels like a fresh start when you see the school supplies appear in all the stores. Here at Autism Society San Diego, September is a big month for us as well. Our support groups resume this month after the summer hiatus, and we are excited to be bringing you our
3rd Annual Lights! Camera! Autism!, celebrating the talents of local autistic artists in film, art, and music. We hope you will join us at this wonderful event on
Saturday, September 21st, as we will be featuring 19 artists, a local pianist, and a variety of films - this is a night out you won't want to miss!
This month we will hold our first ever
Bowling Meetup for Adults with Autism on
Friday, September 6th, at
Kearny Mesa Bowl. This event is open to all adults on the spectrum ages 18 and over. Participants are welcome to bring a support person should they require assistance. We hope you can bowl with us!
I also invite you to join us for our
Fall Family Camp at
YMCA Camp Marston in the beautiful hills of Julian on the weekend of
October 4th-6th. This weekend getaway is open to all families who are members of Autism Society San Diego, and your price includes lodging in renovated cabins with electricity, bathrooms, and WIFI, as well as all food and activities. It's a great opportunity to get away from it all and spend some relaxing family time in a welcoming and supportive atmosphere.
Finally, be sure to save the date for our
6th Annual Beers & Cheers for Autism, happening on
Wednesday, October 23rd at
Mike Hess Brewing North Park! This casual fun event features food by Dang Brothers Pizza, beer tastings and a souvenir glass from Mikes Hess Brewing, dessert, a fabulous silent auction, and more, and all money raised goes to support our recreational programs. We hope you can join us!
Wishing you all a wonderful month,
Amy Munera
