There is no school on Monday, September 2 in recognition of the Labor Day holiday. There is also no school on Tuesday, September 3 due to Hurricane Dorian. OCPS is monitoring the situation very closely and posts updates to the website for our families - OCPS Hurricane Dorian updates.

We enjoyed a successful CLUB Rush this past week (highlights below). If you have a student attending Lake Nona this year, please encourage them to get involved in one of our many clubs, organizations, or sports teams at some point. It's a terrific way to make friends and broaden their middle school experience.

Again, please be sure to check the OCPS website for the latest with respect to Hurricane Dorian and its impact on this school week. I hope you and your family remains safe and can enjoy the Labor Day holiday.

With Knight Pride,

Stephanie R. Jackson, M. Ed.
Principal

CLUB Rush Week '19

The students were able to explore all of the different clubs and organizations they could get involved with at LNMS. Each club/organization created a tri-fold poster about the fun activities and responsibilities the member will experience during the school year. There was a slide show presentation about each club and organization during lunch in the cafeteria (pictured very top of this issue). The sponsors will next contact students that have signed up and will announce the first meeting.

Knight History Careers Activity
Snapshots of "rigor in the classroom" with Mrs. Jaquez and Ms. Sobanski

Students in Mrs. Jaquez and Ms. Sobanski's classes participated in a "mystery bag" activity where students had to use clues within to decide which of four history careers was being described - paleontologist, archaeologist, historian, and anthropologist. Then as an extension activity: students became paleontologists and got to dig around in the sand to find pieces of dinosaur bones that needed to be assembled.

Lake Nona vs. Innovation Recap
Lake Nona Soccer kicked off their season opener last Wednesday evening against Innovation. The Lady Knights shutout the Phoenixes, defeating them 2-0. For the third consecutive year, Innovation has yet to defeat our Lady Knights in soccer. Great performance ladies! Goals for our Lady Knights were scored by returners Madeline Oehlers and Chloe Le.

Our boys soccer team suffered a devastating loss against a tough Innovation team. This game could have easily went either way. At the end of overtime the score was tied at 1-1 and the game came down to penalty kicks where the Phoenixes outscored the Knights 5-4 .

We had a great crowd for the season opener. A big thank you to all of the fans who came out to show our teams support. We are looking forward to an amazing soccer season led by our outstanding Coaches, Stoeckigt and Jones.

Pending on hurricane weather, next week our teams are scheduled to play away at Meadow Woods on Wednesday and Hunter's Creek on Thursday. We wish everyone a safe and happy Labor Day weekend.

Boys Soccer
The 2019 boys soccer team has great talent and skill. However, their placement on the team will largely depend on their behavior in general as well as consistency in their academic work.

Parent Concern Form
A parent whose information is correct in Skyward (in the appropriate fields) should not see the Registration Code box. They should be prompted to enter a one-time password which will be sent to them by email or phone. If they are prompted for a Registration Code, something is wrong in Skyward, either an email address or primary phone number.

When information is added or updated in Skyward, it will take 24-48 hours to activate parent registration in the Parent Portal.

If you are having trouble with the above referenced issue, please fill out the Parent Access Concern Form below and return to the LNMS front desk or email to [email protected]
