New Resource for Affordable Hepatitis B Medication!
The Hepatitis B Foundation is excited to announce that   Rx Outreach , America's
largest non-profit online pharmacy, has expanded their services to include tenofovir disoproxil fumarate (TDF) and entecavir - two of the most common hepatitis B treatments! Individuals in the United States will now have access to these medications at prices significantly lower than retail.

This partnership is a significant step in addressing one of the barriers to accessing hepatitis B treatments. The retail prices of TDF and entecavir are currently priced at over $830 dollars a month. Through Rx Outreach, individuals who rely on these medications can access entecavir for $45 a month and TDF for just $25 dollars a month! The program's eligibility is based upon household income, not insurance status or prescription drug coverage, which helps to expand accessibility to treatments.

July 28th is World Hepatitis Day!
Sunday, July 28th is World Hepatitis Day ! World Hepatitis Day was declared an international day of awareness in order to bring much-needed attention to viral hepatitis - the world's leading cause of liver cancer. Globally, 292 million individuals are estimated to be living with chronic hepatitis B, but only about 10% are aware of their infection. The World Hepatitis Alliance's #FindTheMissingMillions campaign raises awareness about hepatitis B and C and encourages individuals to get tested. Watch the above video to see one of the many ways that the World Hepatitis Alliance is working towards raising awareness!

Did You Know : Each year, World Hepatitis Day is observed on Dr. Baruch Blumberg's birthday; he discovered the hepatitis B virus and the first hepatitis B vaccine!

During 2019, we are highlighting a unique patient story each month. Our #justB Storytelling Campaign is a national effort to bring individuals affected by hepatitis B to share their stories to shed light on this serious disease, decrease stigma, discrimination, and promote the importance of testing and treatment for hepatitis B. If you want to host a screening of the videos, we can help! It is a great way to spread the word and engage your local communities! Email Catherine.Freeland@hepb.org .
#just B Optimistic
After being on medication for hepatitis B for more than a decade, Peter’s GI doctor told him that his reduced viral load meant he could stop taking his medication. Just a year and a half later, Peter was in the hospital awaiting a liver transplant. Fortunately, a donor was found, and Peter is recovering well. He realizes that his GI doctor may not have understood the dangers of taking him off his hepatitis B medicine, and he has now found a trusted hepatologist to monitor his condition moving forward.
