The team has returned from the first major shoot for the production of The Green Box: At The Heart Of A Purple Heart. We started in Ehrwald Austria, where the field team: Vicki Hughes (Writer/ Director), Tom Kaufman (Cinematographer), and Stefan Jandrisevits (Intern/PA) shot in the picturesque village where Robert Kurtz and the other members of Sugar Baby’s crew were captured on the fateful day of the plane crash. Led into the hills by crash witness and veteran mountain guide Gerd Leitner, we filmed author Jim Kurtz, and Debbie Beson and members of their families visiting the memorial to the crash in the village itself, and then, on the 75th anniversary of the air battle, climbing to the crash site itself, high in the Austrian Alps. It was an epic trek and Stefan and Tom made the 2000-foot climb carrying a significant amount of gear. In Ehrwald we interviewed some of our key subjects, including Gerd and Debbie. Sadly Hilde Richter, who like Gerd was a witness to the crash, died on the day after we arrived. We send condolences to her family and friends.
